Which Facial Wrinkles Are Best Treated with Juvederm?

Published on May 7, 2019

Hyper-pigmentation, fine lines, and age spots are the most common signs of aging and skin damage. Skin damage is usually a naturally occurring problem that people face at some point in their lives, and happens even faster when you don’t take proper care of your skin.

There are several factors that contribute to excessive skin damage. They are improper treatment of the skin, the use of abrasive cosmetic products, stress, overexposure to UV rays and pollution, and poor nutrition. Proper treatment of skin can help minimize the damage caused, but wrinkles and fine lines need more attention if you want to see drastic improvements.

Types of Facial Wrinkles

The first step to treating wrinkles is to understand how they are caused. There are three types of wrinkles namely dynamic wrinkles, static wrinkles, and wrinkle folds.

Dynamic wrinkles: Muscle contractions in specific areas of the skin are the primary cause of dynamic wrinkles. The muscle contraction causes the skin to bunch together and form lines. Dynamic wrinkles are common between the eyebrows, forehead, and on the cheeks.

Static wrinkles: These wrinkles are the folds and lines that are present when you’re not forming facial expressions.

Wrinkle folds: These folds are caused by loose, sagging skin and weakened facial muscles. It includes the deep grooves between the nose and the mouth called the nasolabial lines. It also includes marionette lines, the vertical lines that run from the mouth to the chin.

Fill in Those Wrinkles With Juvederm

There are several solutions available to treat those unsightly wrinkles. One of the best and most effective solutions is juvederm. Juvederm is a family of injectables that are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that delivers nutrients to the skin, helps retain moisture, and softness and adds volume to the skin. The fillers are a smooth gel, unlike the other hyaluronic gel products that have a grainy consistency.

Juvederm is developed using Hylacross technology which gives the gel the smooth consistency. It was approved by the FDA in 2006.

Juvederm is injected deep into the skin to fill in facial wrinkles and restore a smoother appearance. It is suitable for moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. Nasolabial folds and marionette lines are treated using Juvederm.

A cross-linked formulation is used for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. The hydraulic acid present in Juvederm holds in water at the treatment site and acts as a cushioning agent. This adds volume and a much smoother appearance to the skin. The results of the treatment are often noticeable immediately and last for a long time.

The side effects of Juvederm are very limited. The treatment causes minor bruising and swelling in the injected area, but these problems are temporary and will subside quickly.

Successful results depend on the current quality of the skin and the skill of the surgeon performing the treatment. This means you will need a cosmetic specialist who is well-versed in the treatment.
