At Enfuse Medical Spa & Hair Restoration, we offer treatment with PRFM (platelet-rich fibrin matrix) in Chicago to fight signs of aging and stimulate hair regrowth. These minimally invasive injections use growth factors in the blood to boost the body’s natural tissue-healing process, providing effective results.

Because PFRM is created using the patient’s own blood, it is considered an autologous procedure. These procedures have a very low chance of allergic reaction or rejection by the body.

What Is PRFM?

Who doesn’t need a little under eye love!? What is PRFM (platelet-rich fibrin matrix) for under eyes? Because of the higher concentration of valuable platelets, PRFM is more effective and powerful than traditional PRP.

PRFM is an improvement on PRP, or platelet-rich plasma. PRP is created using platelets and plasma from a patient’s blood. Platelets in the blood contain numerous growth factors, which play a vital role in the body’s natural healing process. The concentrated dose of platelets in PRP stimulates the healing process in the injected area.

PRFM is PRP that has been combined with a calcium chloride solution, triggering fibrin polymerization. The resulting cross-linked fibrin matrix causes the platelets and growth factors to stay in the injected area longer, improving results.

Growth factors are released by the platelets for up to seven days. During this time, new cells are created. Collagen protein production is increased, new blood vessels are created, and stem cell migration occurs.

In other words, PRFM’s results are improved because it stays in the treatment area longer than PRP does.

Improving Skin Health with PRFM

When platelet-rich fibrin matrix is injected into the skin, it stimulates the tissue-regeneration process. This revitalizes skin for a more youthful look. PRFM can treat a number of issues:

  • Skin volume loss
  • Age lines and wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Acne scars
  • Rough texture
  • Dullness

It can also be combined with other skin treatments at Enfuse Medical Spa & Hair Restoration for improved results.

Regrowing Hair with PRFM

Platelet-rich fibrin matrix can be used to treat hair loss in men and women. This is one of the most convenient hair-regrowth solutions, since it requires no surgery, incisions, pills, recovery, or downtime.

During the process, PRFM is injected into the patient’s scalp. The growth factors promote creation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) and repair existing blood vessels. This improves blood flow to the scalp and extends the hair-growth cycle.

It’s usually recommended that patients undergo three treatment sessions for best hair-regrowth results.

The PRFM Process

The platelet-rich fibrin matrix treatment process typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes at most. At the start, blood is drawn in a method very similar to that of a blood test. This blood is then placed into a centrifuge, where the plasma and platelets are separated out. These are combined into PRP.

A calcium chloride solution is introduced into the PRP, triggering a fibrin polymerization process. Once this process is complete, the resulting PRFM is injected into the scalp for hair regrowth or the skin of the face for facial rejuvenation.

After the Treatment

After the injections have been delivered, patients can return to their everyday schedule without any need for recovery or downtime. A small degree of bruising, swelling, and/or redness may be temporarily present at the draw and injection sites, as is common with all injection treatments.

Multiple treatment sessions are required to achieve optimal results, and the number of sessions varies from patient to patient. Results appear gradually over time and continue to improve.

How Much Do PRFM Treatments Cost?

The cost of platelet-rich fibrin matrix treatments is based on many factors. Number of sessions needed plays a role in determining price, as does the exact issue being treated.
